Boxer Rescue

In any Boxer rescue, there are many purebred and mixed dogs surrendered by their owners. Unfortunately, dogs of popular breeds are often obtained by irresponsible people who saw a funny and cute animal in the neighborhood or in a movie and want to have the same pet. The Boxer is the eighth popular breed in the USA. Many homeless Boxers is the other side of the breed’s popularity. Actually, Boxers become good pets only if given proper training, early socialization and housebreaking, and much daily exercise. If left on its own, a Boxer puppy will develop bad habits and may become aggressive, dominating, and manipulating. Boxers with aggressive tendencies that are surrendered to rescues have no chances to find new owners.

Other reasons to give up a purebred dog are an incurable disorder and an old age. In a Boxer rescue, you’ll see many senior dogs and those who need expensive treatment. Irresponsible and unknowledgeable dog owners don’t want to deal with an ill or senior dog that is no longer playful and funny. Volunteers from rescues take all abandoned dogs into foster care to rehabilitate and cure them if necessary.

Adopting a homeless dog from a Boxer rescue is an easy and cheap opportunity for breed fanciers who cannot afford a purebred dog from a breeder. Though rescue dogs cannot be shown or bred, they make good pets and quickly adapt to the new family. Even high quality purebreds are spayed or neutered in a rescue. Rescue dogs are given basic obedience training and all necessary shots. An adult or senior “second hand” dog is much less time-taking than a puppy bought from a breeder.

Rescues for purebreds care about the future life of their dogs and try to find the best possible homes for them. That’s why they screen all perspective adopters to make sure they will make responsible owners for Boxer dogs. All adopters have to fill in a questionnaire and pass through an interview with a rescue worker. The living conditions and the family of the adopter are also examined. All adopters have to pay a donation fee to cover the expenses of the Boxer rescue.
